Children’s folk ensemble Malá chasa from Rohatec

Children folklore ensemble was founded in September 2010 as a school activity under the auspices of Primary school in Rohatec. The initiative to its creation came from Ms Antošová and Ms Trávníková and it was through their effort that new children’s ensemble was established in Rohatec. The ensemble performs as independent legal entity named Dětský folklórní soubor Malá chasa z Rohatca (Children folklore ensemble Malá chasa from Rohatec) since autumn 2012.

Municipality Rohatec is located on a border of three regions of Slovácko (Moravian Slovakia) called Podluží, Kyjovské Dolňácko and Strážnické Dolňácko. All these regions are reflected not only in variety of Rohatec traditional folk costume but also in traditions and customs which are being transferred into ensemble’s dance games, songs and dances. Standard dances like Polka or Waltz are also part of ensemble repertoire.

Since 2014, the ensemble holds a children folklore festival where children ensembles from Moravian Slovakia come in the middle of June. Our ensemble performs regularly at events organized in municipality Rohatec. And was also guest at children festival Dětská Strážnice, international children festival Štěpy in Veselí nad Moravou, Ozvěny Horňácka in Velká nad Veličkou and at international festival in Dambořice.
